Millions around the world need our help…and we need theirs. Loveworks bridges the gap between 2 worlds, recognizing that the poor and the privileged need each other. We can do so much to help those in need and in turn we are transformed by the experience of helping others as they help us understand more fully what it means to be alive, to be grateful, to live simply and love deeply. It’s time to help!
Create.
We believe that creativity is the most powerful tool we have to fight injustice and extreme poverty. Everyone has something to offer and anyone can participate. We work to unleash the creativity of a generation and awaken their dreams for a better future and give them the creative tools they need to create that future. It’s time to get creative about changing the world!
Change.
The world is not as it should be. Children are sold into lives of slavery and abuse. 25,000 children die of hunger every day while we throw out excess food. We flush toilets full of clean water while people spend hours each day walking to get water that is full of parasites and bacteria that might just kill them. We buy stuff that we don’t need while 1/3 of the world struggles to survive on less than $2 a day. The world needs change. The world needs changemakers. This is not about guilt but about gratitude and allowing our gratitude to drive our generosity and action. It’s time to help.create.change!
Loveworks is a movement.
Loveworks is all about inspiring and empowering young people to change their world. Our goal is to leverage the creativity and compassion of a privileged generation for the good of our fellow humans who are in desperate need around the world. We do this by challenging a generation to work together to meet critical global need in 8 key areas through creative projects…8 weeks at a time. Regardless of your age, we believe that you have what it takes to create a better future for our world and we are here to help you do it.
What’s with the name?
The name loveworks reminds us why we exist and who we are. We believe in the value of every person regardless of race, religion, status or gender and that every person deserves dignity, justice and love. Where a person is born should not determine whether they live or die, prosper or suffer. We strive to meet the needs of the poor simply because we love them and because we know that we are no different than them. When we say love we’re not talking about cheesy sappy emotional romantic love but about a love that is bold and courageous, fueled by compassion and a relentless hope that drives us to meaningful action. We believe that our love for humanity is best demonstrated through actions…or works. We also believe that love is the only thing that works when dealing with such unimaginable evils like human trafficking or the overwhelming poverty that is the reality of billions in our world. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the size of these problems. But love keeps us going when we feel like the mountain is too big to climb. It is our generation’s turn to write our story and we are determined to write a story of hope, courage, compassion, sacrifice, equality, justice, creativity, and ultimately love. Why?
We are often asked why we do what we do and what compels us to challenge a generation to spend themselves on behalf of the poor. The answer is simple. The life and person of Jesus inspires us to seek justice for the oppressed, to defend the child, the orphan and the widow, to heal the sick, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to those who are thirsty, and give to those in need. Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves and in today’s global village the AIDS orphan in Africa is just as much our neighbor as the person living down the street. We believe that Jesus was who he claimed to be and we desire to follow in his footsteps out of love for him and because he showed us what perfect love for humanity looks like.
How does this all work?
It’s really simple. We run 2 8-week challenges each year (spring and fall) and challenge schools, universities, youth groups, churches, sports teams, and anyone crazy enough to join us to do 5 things:
Teams register online and create their own profile page that allows them to spread the word to their friends about their project. Teams spend 8 weeks along with other teams across the country doing something creative to raise awareness in their community about an area of global need and raising money that we use to change lives in our 8 areas of need through our development partners. Our partners report back to us with stories of real lives and real communities that have been forever changed because of our love. See…we told you loveworks!

Causes overview
After closely looking at the overwhelming need in our world we have identified 8 areas of critical need where we are working to help.create.change. These 8 certainly do not address every need our world faces but we believe that these 8 are the most basic needs that must be met for a person or community to experience health, hope, and fullness of life. By tackling all 8 areas together in a community we create lasting hope for years to come.
Meet our partners
Our partnerships are essential to making this whole thing work! We love our partners and love sharing this adventure with them. We are not experts when it comes to transforming communities in need and development work so we partner with people who are! When teams send us the money they have raised we give 100% of that money to our partners and make sure that it gets to people in need. We have great confidence in our partners and trust that they make the most out of every dollar you have worked so hard to raise.
Loveworks is a part of Youth for Christ Canada. YFC Canada exists to see the hope and potential in every young person and strives to care for the whole person by meeting the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of young people in Canada through innovative methods.
